Mandate Commission on Human Rights requested the Secretary-General to send a mission to Guatemala at the end of 1997, within the approved overall budget for the current biennium, to submit a report to the Commission on Human Rights at its fifty-fourth session on the evolution of the situation of human rights in Guatemala in the light of the implementation of the peace agreements, taking into account the verification work done by MINUGUA and the information submitted by the Government of Guatemala, the Follow-up Commission on compliance with the peace agreements, the political organizations and the non-governmental human rights organizations, as well as on the implementation of the agreement on the provision of advisory services in the field of human rights signed by the Government of Guatemala and the United Nations High Commissioner for Human Rights, with a view to concluding the consideration of the case of Guatemala in the agenda of the Commission

Nicaragua

Mandate

With the adoption of resolution 49/3 of 31 March 2022, the Human Rights Council provided the Group of Human Rights Experts on Nicaragua with the following mandate:

(a) To conduct thorough and independent investigations into all alleged human rights violations and abuses committed in Nicaragua since April 2018, including the possible gender dimensions of such violations and abuses, and their structural root causes;
(b) To establish the facts and circumstances surrounding the alleged violations and abuses, to collect, consolidate, preserve and analyse information and evidence and, where possible, to identify those responsible, and to make such information accessible and usable in support of ongoing and future accountability efforts;
(c) To make recommendations with a view to improving the situation of human rights, to provide guidance on access to justice and accountability, as appropriate, and to ensure a victim-centred approach, including by addressing the impact of multiple and intersectional forms of discrimination;
(d) To engage with all relevant stakeholders, including the Government of Nicaragua, the Office of the High Commissioner, international human rights organizations, relevant United Nations agencies and civil society, with a view to exchanging information, as appropriate, and providing support for national, regional and international efforts to promote accountability for human rights violations and abuses in Nicaragua.

Commission/Mission Independent International Fact-Finding Mission on the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela (OHCHR website)
Mandate Human Rights Council decided to establish, for a period of one year, an independent international fact-finding mission, to be appointed by the President of the Human Rights Council, and to dispatch that mission urgently to the Bolivarian Republic of Venezuela to investigate extrajudicial executions, enforced disappearances, arbitrary detentions and torture and other cruel, inhumane or degrading treatment since 2014 with a view to ensuring full accountability for perpetrators and justice for victims, and requests the mission to present a report on its findings to the Council during an interactive dialogue at its forty-fifth session
