What You Need to Download eBooks

eBooks/chapters as PDF files

All of the eBook collections offered by the Library allow users to read content online while on-site at the Palais des Nations and to download content in PDF format for offline reading; although the number of pages that can be downloaded in one session may be limited.

Adobe Reader software is required to download PDF files:

eBooks as EPUB files

Some eBook platforms (including ebrary) also permit downloading of eBooks in a special electronic publications (EPUB) format that has additional restrictions and requirements for access.

To download and read books in this format you will need to:

1. Install eBook reader software

EPUB files can only be opened with specific software.  Below are links to two examples of software that can read EPUB files, Adobe Digital Editions, and Bluefire Reader, both of which are free to download and will work with files from many different sources:

For Windows PC/Mac

 For mobile devices

2. Create an Adobe ID

In order to use the software for access to eBooks in this format, you must also log in with an Adobe ID.  This safeguard ensures that readers respect the copyright and terms of use for these resources.

An Adobe ID can be created for free.
