Disarmament: Global Issues

Disarmament in Geneva

The Palais des Nations is a center venue for international diplomacy in this field. The United Nations Office for Disarmament Affairs (UNODA) supports multilateral efforts aimed at achieving the ultimate goal of general and complete disarmament under strict and effective international control.

The work of UNODA articulates itself around the issues related to Weapons of Mass Destruction, Conventional  Arms, Regional Disarmament, Transparency and Confidence Building along with other issues such as gender, youth or education. It is home to the Conference on Disarmament - the sole multilateral disarmament negotiating body - and provides, through the Geneva Branch of the Office for Disarmament Affairs, substantive and organisational support to a wide range of multilateral disarmament agreements.

In addition, Geneva hosts a number of disarmament-related conferences.
