Research Guides United Nations Office at Geneva Library

Celebrating 100+ years of Library & Knowledge Services in support of Multilateralism

Founded as the Library of the League of Nations in 1919, the UN Library Geneva has served the international community for a century. Since its inception, the Library has earned a worldwide reputation as a centre for research and an instrument of international understanding.

This year we are celebrating the 100th anniversary of the Library with several activities and products. On this website, you will find updates, as well as the possibility to share with us your messages or stories for our anniversary!

Our short film “A Day in the Life of the Library” walks you through the three time periods in the 100-year history of the UN Library at Geneva - from 1920’s, to 1960’s, to the present. Video produced by UN Geneva, Division of Conference Management, in collaboration with the UN Library Geneva team. Recorded in May and June 2019.
