The Economist apps and website access for UN Geneva staff: Setup

UNOG staff may access content of The Economist on either the web or mobile devices.

The below steps explain how to do so:

1. Download  either one of the following apps on a smart device:

• “The Economist” App
• “Espresso from The Economist” App

2. Once the app is installed, click on the “Settings” tab in the bottom right corner.
3. In the “Settings” tab, click on “Log in” link in the top right corner.
4. On the “Log into your account” page, click on the “Register now” link. 
5. On the “Create your account” page, enter your @un.org email address (note: it must be an @un.org email i.e. you cannot use an alternative linked email address like example@unctad.org).  
6. You will then be re-directed to a login page for our remote access system (i.e. “OpenAthens”).
7. Choose your normal option (for most staff this is the “UN Staff with @un.org email” option at the top of the page).
8. You should now be re-directed to the UN’s Unite ID login page. Complete the log in as normal.
9. Once you have finished logging into the UN’s system, you’ll be re-directed back to the app and will now have access to content from The Economist.

2. Once the app is installed, click on the “Settings” tab in the bottom right corner.
3. In the “Settings” tab, click on “Log in” link in the top right corner.
4. On the “Log into your account” page, click on the “Register now” link. 
5. On the “Create your account” page, enter your @unhcr.org email address 
6. Economist should recognize the @unhcr.org email address as having access to the Library's subscription, and send an email verification to activate account.
7. After verification, you should now have access to content from the Economist.
