Conference primer: International Law Commission: 71st session

In accordance with General Assembly resolution 74/186 of 18 December 2019, the International Law Commission was scheduled to hold its seventy-second session at the United Nations Office at Geneva from 27 April to 5 June and from 6 July to 7 August 2020 (11 weeks).
Due to the ongoing COVID-19 Pandemic, the General Assembly, on 23 June 2020, decided that the seventy-second session of the ILC would be postponed to 2021.

Hosted by the UN Offica at Geneva, the Seminar takes place on an annual basis and is designed for postgraduate students in international law, young scholars, government officials as well as young lawyers in the field of international law, to widen their knowledge of both the work of the International Law Commission and of the codification and progressive development of international law. It also provides an opportunity for lawyers coming from different legal systems and cultures to exchange views regarding items on the agenda of the Commission.
