A new mpox IHR Emergency Committee is being constituted to consider an upsurge of mpox.

The International Health Regulations (2005) (IHR) provide an overarching legal framework that defines countries’ rights and obligations in handling public health events and emergencies that have the potential to cross borders.

The 155th session of the WHO Executive Board take place on 3–4 June 2024.

The Executive Board is composed of 34 technically qualified members elected for three-year terms. The annual Board meeting is held in January.

The WHO Coronavirus Network (CoViNet) aims to bring together surveillance programs and reference laboratories to support enhanced epidemiological monitoring and laboratory (phenotypic and genotypic) assessment of SARS-CoV-2, MERS-CoV and novel coronaviruses of public health importance.

The resumed ninth meeting of the INB is to be held in hybrid format from 29 April to 10 May 2024. INB9 is the final negotiating session to agree a new pandemic instrument. Representatives of WHO’s 194 Member States are expected to attend.

The eighth meeting of the WGIHR will be held from 22-26 April 2024. During this session, relevant stakeholders will be invited to deliver their interventions, followed by a drafting session to negotiate the full suite of the proposed Bureau’s text.

The ninth meeting of the INB is to be held in hybrid format from 18 to 28 March 2024. The revised draft of the negotiating text of the WHO Pandemic Agreement developed during the eight meeting will be the basis of textual negotiations at INB9.

UNAIDS Status Report - published 22 July 2024

Established in 1994 by a resolution of the UN Economic and Social Council and launched in January 1996, UNAIDS is guided by a Programme Coordinating Board (PCB) with representatives of 22 governments from all geographic regions, the UNAIDS Cosponsors, and five representatives of nongovernmental organizations, including associations of people living with HIV.

The Codex Alimentarius Commission, jointly created by FAO and the World Health Organization (WHO), is the most important international body in the field of food standards. Since 1963, Codex has developed hundreds of internationally recognized standards, guidelines and codes of practice. It has defined thousands of permitted levels of additives, contaminants and chemical residues in food. The end goal: ensure food is safe for everyone, everywhere.
The Codex Alimentarius Commission (CAC) held its first meeting in 1963. Although the CAC has not met every year in between, 2023 will represent 60 years of activity.

The Codex Alimentarius, or "Food Code" is a collection of standards, guidelines and codes of practice adopted by the Codex Alimentarius Commission. The Commission, also known as CAC, is the central part of the Joint FAO/WHO Food Standards Programme and was established by FAO and WHO to protect consumer health and promote fair practices in food trade. It held its first meeting in 1963.
