A kick-off event on 7 July 2021 will set the stage for a series of expert talks over the following months which will bring together leading voices from academia, industry and policy to provide a forum to ensure climate science is able to capitalise on the latest advances in AI and machine learning for the benefit of humanity. The outcome will be a whitepaper proposing ways forward.
First step towards the ITU Regional Innovation Forum for Europe: “Accelerating innovation, entrepreneurship and digital transformation — Europe”. Starting on July 1st 2021.

ITU Council Geneva 2021
The 2021 Session of the Council was planned to be held at ITU Headquarters in Geneva from 8 to 18 June 2021. In view of the COVID-19 pandemic still resulting in restrictions on work and travel, holding a physical meeting of the Council in June is highly unlikely.
A virtual consultation of councilors (C21\VCC-1) will be held during the period initially agreed for the physical session of the Council from 8 to 18 June 2021.

Natural and man-made disasters have become more frequent than ever before and the need for disaster preparedness has increased over the years. Fourth Industrial Revolution (4IR) technologies like Artificial Intelligence (AI), Robotics, Drones and Internet of Things (IoT) have the potential to revolutionize the domain of disaster risk prevention, reduction and response.

The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) is hosting a series of webinars on these 4IR technologies presenting a chance to learn from, and engage with leading experts from around the world as they discuss opportunities and challenges associated with these technologies and their use in disaster management.
